Position: Freelance French Speech Therapist (Orthophoniste

Location: New York City, Flatiron District 

School: The École from Pre-Nursery to 8th Grade

Start Date: September 2024

Compensation: Competitive, based on services rendered, paid directly by families.

We are looking for a freelance French speech therapist (orthophoniste) to partner with us around our students and families to support them in their academic journey. The orthophoniste will be able to work in our school facilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to diagnose speech, language, and communication disorders.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each student’s needs.
  • Provide therapy and interventions to individuals with speech and language difficulties.
  • Collaborate with other professionals within the school, such as educators, the Educational Support Team, and families, to ensure holistic care and support for students.
  • Keep detailed records of patient progress and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in orthophonie or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Certification/licensure as an orthophoniste in Europe.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and families.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in French, both verbal and written.

[Starting April 2024] Full-Time School Life Assistant  - Elementary & Middle School

Full-Time School Life Assistant  - Elementary & Middle School

The École is an independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students in New York City’s Flatiron District. The school offers an academic, bilingual program and has a student body of more than 320 students from Pre-Nursery through 8th Grade (ages 2-14). We are currently recruiting a full-time School Life Assistant for our Elementary and Middle School Building (1st to 8th Grades) to supervise lunches and recess during the school day and assist with the smooth running of our After-School program. 

Duties include:

  • Preparing and distributing school lunches
  • Actively supervising recesses and lunchtime
  • Monitoring the upkeep of common spaces
  • Chaperoning children from one building to another
  • Preparing and setting up equipment for After-School activities (laptops, sports gear, musical instruments…)
  • Managing and printing attendance lists to give to After-School instructors and teachers
  • Guiding After-School instructors to their locations
  • Ensuring safe and smooth child dispatch to their respective activities
  • Checking classrooms to ensure After-School activities are running smoothly
  • Tidying up classrooms and activity areas at the end of the After-School program
  • Assisting with the transfer of children to external locations
  • Supervising camps during school vacations

Hours: 10:00 a.m.- 6:30 p.m. from Monday to Friday

Requirements:

  • At least two years of recent experience working with children 
  • A passion for working with students from 1st to 8th Grade
  • Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail
  • Highly skilled in collaborative teamwork within a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

  • Prior experience in a similar role is a plus
  • Experience in bilingual/dual language and international, independent education. 
  • Proficiency in French is an asset but not required.

Salary & Benefits: 

Salary range: $45,000 - $55,000 with benefits based on experience. Position starts April 2024.
