Part-Time English as an Additional Language Teacher - Pre-School

The École is an independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students in New York City’s Flatiron District. The school offers an academic, bilingual program and enrolls more than 300 students from Pre-Nursery through 8th Grade (ages 2-13).  We are currently seeking a part-time English as an Additional Language teacher at the pre-school level.

Qualifications:

  • Dynamic, interactive approach to teaching.
  • Enthusiasm for international education.
  • An open mind and passion for collaborating with colleagues.
  • At least two years of recent experience teaching English as a Second/Additional Language to children
  • Certification in the US or home country.
  • Ability to work in the US

Responsibilities include:

  • Crafting and delivering challenging and engaging lessons that encourage critical thinking in collaboration with classroom teachers and following our curriculum.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to create interdisciplinary and bilingual projects.
  • Differentiating instruction and assessment as appropriate according to student needs.
  • Altering and adjusting lessons and curriculum in consultation with coordinators and administration.
  • Careful assessment and documentation of student progress
  • Clear and regular communication with parents and administration through conferences, meetings, and email.

Proficiency in French is an asset, but not required.

Hourly pay range of $45-$65 depending on education and experience. Possibility to teach After-School activities available. Position starts August 22, 2022.

Full-Time Daycare Worker - Nursery

The École is an independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students in New York City’s Flatiron District. The school offers an academic, bilingual program and has a student body of more than 290 students from Pre-Nursery through 8th Grade (ages 2-13). We are currently recruiting a full-time daycare worker to assist with our Nursery students.

Duties include:

  • Assisting in nursery classroom
  • Helping children with meals and toilet training
  • Changing students when necessary
  • Cleaning and organization of classroom and common spaces
  • Supervising naps and recess

Requirements:

At least two years of recent experience working with nursery-age children 

Preferred:

Experience in bilingual/dual language and international, independent education. 

Proficiency in French is an asset but not required. 

Salary range of $40,000-$45,000 depending on education and experience, as well as benefits. Position starts August 22, 2022.

Full-Time School Life Assistants  - Pre-School

The École is an independent, French-American bilingual school serving an international community of Maternelle-to-Middle School students in New York City’s Flatiron District. The school offers an academic, bilingual program and has a student body of more than 300 students from Pre-Nursery through 8th Grade (ages 2-13). We are currently recruiting full-time School Life Assistants for the 2022-2023 school year for our Maternelle building (ages 2-5).

Duties include:

  • Supervising recess, lunch, and nap times
  • Working with small groups of students or individuals as needed
  • Assisting teachers in classrooms
  • Upkeep and organization of classroom and common spaces
  • Serving lunch to students
  • Supervising daycare, assisting in study hall and facilitating activities in the afterschool program

 

Requirements:

At least two years of recent experience working with children 

Strong collaborative skills, a passion for working with students in grades Pre-K through 8th Grade

 

Preferred:

Experience in bilingual/dual language and international, independent education. 

Proficiency in French is an asset but not required. 

Salary range of $50,000-$60,000 depending on education and experience, as well as benefits. Position starts August 22, 2022.
