Is priority enrollment granted to siblings?

Siblings benefit from a priority enrollment if the family has successfully completed their Application Process, including the Invitation to Meet our Head of School.

What are the French teachers’ backgrounds?

All of our French teachers are certified teachers with a French national teacher accreditation.

I have several children to enroll. Do you offer any tuition reduction?

Unfortunately, we do not grant any tuition reductions for additional siblings. However, we offer some tuition reduction if you pay your tuition payment in full by the May due date.

School financial aid is available to all of The École’s parents. French citizens may also apply for a French scholarship at the French Consulate of New York. You may apply for financial aid during the application process.

How many different nationalities are represented at The École? What is the ratio of French students per class?

The École’s community is composed of students coming from more than 20 different countries, and represent 36 different nationalities.

52% of our students have parents of different nationalities.

36% of them have at least one of their parents who is American, and 64% have at least one of their parents who is French.

There is a minimum of 60% French-speaking children per class, and 72% of our students speak at least French and English.

74% of our families are living full time or staying indefinitely in New York.

My child doesn’t speak French. Can I enroll him/her at The École?

Children who don’t speak French can enroll in The École up until and including Kindergarten. They will receive personalized language support through our FSL program (French as a Second Language).

We cannot admit children entering the 3rd grade or beyond if they have never previously been enrolled in a school where they followed a French language program.

How many classes in each grade level do you have and how many students are there per class?

In Pre-Nursery and Nursery we have one class per grade. Through Pre-K to 5th grade, there are two classes per grade, and from 6th grade to 8th grade, there is one class per grade. On average, a class is composed of 15 students, and never more than 20 (12 for Pre-Nursery, 16 for Nursery and 18 for Pre-K). The student-to-teacher ratio is 8:1.

Is there an after-school program and is it included in the tuition fees?

There is an after-school program specially designed for the Maternelle, Elementary, and Middle School divisions. These after-school activities are not included in the tuition fees and their payment is separate from the tuition.

What is the minimum age to enter The École?

Our Pre-Nursery accepts children who will have had their second birthday by December 31st of the year they start school.

Starting in Nursery, please note that in addition to our age requirements, all children must be potty-trained before the first day of school. Pull-ups are not permitted during school hours starting Nursery.

I have missed the application deadline dates. What can I do?

Applications should be received by the due date. However, we will consider any late applications if there are available openings for students.

We do not currently live in New York City and therefore we cannot meet the Director. What should we do?

If your child and yourself cannot meet our Director, we will organize an online meeting.
