3:45-5:45 p.m. Middle School Falcons Volleyball tryouts (Sign up here)
The Middle School Falcons, led by Coach Soden, represent The École in the CONSAT League (Confederation of New York School and Team Sports), competing each year in volleyball, basketball, and soccer. Participation in the program provides students with the opportunity to develop athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship in a competitive setting.
Tryouts for the Falcons teams are open to students in 6th through 8th Grade. Because the sports seasons take place consecutively throughout the school year, students are welcome to try out for all three Falcons teams.
Following the tryouts, Coach Soden selects the players for each squad. The coach considers overall team needs as well as individual performance, and all decisions are final.
Participation in the Falcons program may also include opportunities such as:
- A short basketball game at Madison Square Garden before tip-off at a Knicks game
- Travel to tournaments organized by the AEFE (Agency for French Education Abroad)
Tryouts & Season Schedule (2026–2027)
Volleyball
- Tryouts: Wednesday, September 9, 3:45–5:45 p.m.
- Squad announced: Friday, September 11
- Season training: Wednesdays, September 16–November 11, 3:45–5:45 p.m.
Basketball
- Tryouts: Wednesday, November 18, 3:45–5:45 p.m.
- Squad announced: Friday, November 20
- Season training: Wednesdays, December 2–March 17, 3:45–5:45 p.m.
Soccer
- Tryouts: Wednesday, March 24, 3:45–5:45 p.m.
- Squad announced: Tuesday, March 30
- Season training: Wednesdays, March 31 through the end of May, 3:45–5:45 p.m.
Each season includes approximately six game days, traditionally held on Thursdays. The full CONSAT League schedule will be shared with players and families once it has been confirmed.
Registration and After-School Coordination
We understand that not all students trying out for Falcons teams will be selected, and by the time squads are announced, After-School activities on Wednesdays and Thursdays may already be full. To avoid scheduling conflicts, we encourage parents/guardians to register for Wednesday/Thursday After-School activities when registration opens on Monday, July 13 at 12:00 p.m. (EDT).
If your child makes the Falcons squad, you will be refunded for any After-School activities missed due to practices or games.
