2022-2023 has been a special year for high school placements at The École for two reasons: first, our 8th Grade class is the largest graduating class we have ever had, and second, it marks the start of our partnership with Léman Manhattan. This partnership was created to provide our students with an almost automatic enrolment pathway – with no tests and less stress! – to one of the most prominent international schools in New York City, whose students are accepted into top-tier universities every year. The pathway also allows our students to extend their French-American bilingual experience via 9th- and 10th-grade electives taught by two of our very own The École teachers – Ms. Bendinelli and Mr. Le Martelot.  In 11th and 12th grade, students go on to prepare for the French-English bilingual International Baccalaureate, one of the most powerful passports to a successful higher education.

We are therefore excited to report that 6 of our 16 8th graders will join Léman Manhattan in September. We are also delighted that our students who applied to other high schools in New York proved equally successful. We are proud to announce our students’ fantastic placements to you today; they prove that this year as every year, The École has prepared our students for entry to the very best high schools.

We would like to take this opportunity to highlight all the effort our students put in over the past year with their high school applications. They demonstrated courage, patience, and extraordinary resilience during the process. Altogether, they applied to over 100 different high schools throughout New York (and a few out of state and abroad), all of which had different application requirements. There were challenges and disappointments along the way; late nights spent writing essays and personal statements, preparing visual and performing art pieces, and studying for various entrance exams such as the SHSAT and ISEE.

The high school process may appear complicated; the public high school admissions process, in particular, is constantly evolving. However, the École is with you and your family every step of the way, and we offer many forms of support to students and their families to help ease the transition to high school, whatever options you choose.

Our warmest congratulations to all of our 8th graders: Codou, Ellen, Joe, Joseph, Kevin, Lalie, LouAnn, Madison, Matteo B., Matteo R., Miguel, Nina, Rowan, Aleksandra (Sasha), Victoria, and William. We are so proud of you!

Sincerely,

Melissa Millan – High School Placement Coordinator
& Jean-Yves Vesseau – Head of School
